The Cozy Newport Eatery For Tacos, Avo Fries, Margs, And More

I’ve talked about their avocado fries before, but you can also tuck into some scrumptious tacos, enchildas, and a generously sized basket of chips with salsa there, too.

I feel like this charming and homey (used to be a house?) restaurant on a side street not far from Thames is such a gem…but unless you’re a regular visitor to the City By The Sea or know someone who is, you might not be aware. (I’ve sat in one of the smaller rooms downstairs, out on the patio that’s built — believe it or not —around a majestic tree, and upstairs on the 2nd floor.)

Pretty sure I first found out about Perro Salado from an online friend (aka, The Wax Queen) back in either 2015 or 2016.

Several people I’ve spotlighted on the site over the years have also cited their spicy cucumber margaritas and yes, those darn AVO FRIES as serious favorites.

Me personally? I adore those fries, their salads, the small plate specials, the meat-free tacos, and the nachos.

The servicers are also quite friendly and helpful. (Need a recommendation for a main dish or a sip? They got you!)

And one of my pickiest friends has nothing but GREAT things to say about the place.

Last time we were there together, we feasted on about three or four different apps and some cocktails.

The place was hopping and it just had this whole carefree and joyous vibe.

Find Perro Salado at 19 Charles Street in NPT.
