The Cranston Deli Where The Line For Sandwiches Is Out The Door

the other day in Knightsville

When we motored over the other day, the line was out the door and a lady passed by with her order, saying, “Can you believe it?”

Well, yes, yes I can!

Dee’s Deli on Cranston Street in Cranston’s Knightsville neighborhood — prior to 2005 on Webster Avenue — is a family owned and run biz that after 42+ years has become synonymous with old school and ginormous Italian grinders.

I got a small Italian tuna with shredded lettuce and tomato the other day and it was huge. (See photo below.) The large version is no doubt big enough to share with a friend.

The hubs ordered a chicken ceasar wrap special and was very happy with it.

They also offer macaroni, potato, and tortellini salads; soups; and bagged chips, as well as some Italian staples (we spotted bags of Cantanzaro’s wine biscuits near the entrance), the Cranston Herald, and an interior that’s no doubt been decorated by a local sports fan (plenty of memorabilia from the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots inside and out actually).

Regulars go gaga over their Italian (coldcut) and meatball grinders, and recommend calling in your order in advance to avoid the lines.

They are open daily from 10am until 2:30pm or (be aware, lol) until they run out of bread.
