Make Brunch Plans With Your Friends Because This Rhode Island Restaurant Is Fantastic

the other day at Evie’s

Open almost a year, this delightful restaurant in Westerly (RI) has been on my list for a while, and the hubs and I actually made it over for brunch this past weekend.

First of all, Evie’s Cocktails & Comforts is NOT a run-of-the-mill, yawns-ville local eatery: It has PERSONALITY!

Both the exterior (see photo above) and interior are quite stylish. I don’t have a photo of the inside but we loved the framed, vintage family photos on the walls throughout, the fish wallpaper, and the Howard Johnson’s mural on the back wall. (Am guessing that the location used to be a Howard Johnson’s? One of the waitresses was telling another table the story of Evie; I tried to eavesdrop and still somehow missed it.)

There’s even a swell patio area with bistro lights if you want to go the al fresco route.

I ordered a nice, refreshing mocktail (a watermelon meets Sprite kinda concoction). If you want to indulge in a cocktail, however, they have you covered with a ginormous selection of those — and more sips.

The brunch menu is fun too, with a bunch of different versions of Eggs Benedict (I got the Florentine), French toast (the hubs got the one with blueberries and lemon compote), omelettes, egg sandwiches, and such.

Even better? The portions were generous, service was on point and the 70’s and 80’s tunes playing were the perfect soundtrack to our meal.
