The Darling Rhode Island Cafe Boutique That's Like Somewhere Out Of A Movie

the other day at BEAUCOUP in NPT

TCM hosted a double feature spotlighting movies co-written by Nancy Meyers the other night (Baby Boom and Father of The Bride in case you were wondering).

I say this because this new-ish cafe in Newport — called BEAUCOUP — has a definite Nancy Meyers MOVIE vibe.

You almost expect the Meryl from It’s Complicated to come flying out with croissants. I swear it feels just like the Diane Keaton character from Something’s Gotta Give might pop in — turtleneck and all — for a tea and to browse the home goods.

Now there’s no Meryl or Diane at Beaucoup on Thames Street (it’s set back in a little plaza) but you can get an almond croissant, a pistachio latte, a hot chocolate, and a pair of fuzzy slippers.

The hubs and I actually split a spinach and feta turnover the other day and it was incredibly delicious. (He said he could probably have eaten 10.)

It gets even more Nancy Meyer-ish because this is not just any ole sunny cafe. This is a darling one that doubles as a boutique specializing in home decor, accessories (chic tote bags and sandals, anyone?), and gift-y items including signature mugs and such.

I also just found out they have launched Sip & Knit on Sunday nights, which sounds like the perfect winter evening in Newport.

Find Beaucoup Cafe at 580 Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island.
