The RI Florist Who's Put Down Roots In A Delightful PVD Neighborhood

I decided to move to Wayland Square (also called “The Square”) when a very quaint and historically crafted space became available the street over from Wayland Avenue.

Why not take the risk?

I’d already quit my corporate job and started a business during a pandemic.

Signing a lease that was more than my mortgage seemed only fitting, lol.

Wayland Square is an interesting area as many in Rhode Island may not know about this unique gem of a street.

Close to Blackstone Boulevard as well as Hope and Thayer, it has boutique style shops and restaurants and a very diverse community.

The opening of Mare Rooftop a few years ago may have given Rhode Islanders a bit of a nudge in terms of discovering this gem, but a further reach would serve Rhode Islanders (and even those in close proximity in Massachusetts as well as vacationers) well given the unique gifts, the delicious eats (from restaurants like The Salted Slate, Haruki East, Pasta Beach, L’Artisan Bakery, and Madrid…Feed The Cheeks, a cookie shop, just opened too), top shelf service, and now fresh, seasonal flower arrangements they will find there.

I frequented the street last summer, handing out flowers to residents and passers-by alike, also connecting with businesses and finding out what they needed.

After hosting flower arranging classes at both Red Stripe and West Elm, and receiving such a welcoming response, signing on for a space for 12 months there seemed so right.

Having been handed the keys in January, I am finally situated: It was a hurdle getting through Valentine’s Day and unpacking, but here I am ready for Easter, Mother’s Day, you name it!

I’m ready to host classes and continue offering pick up of online orders.

The space feels as if it were meant just for me. There are two fireplaces, one in my consultation room. The hand-crafted molding is breathtaking.

What a change from staring at cement walls in the lower level of my house with minimal sunlight and a boxy layout!

It’s like a whole new life in a bright and glamorous space.

This space is 21 minutes from home with no traffic, so that works. (We’ll see when things change a bit and traffic opens up.)

I am thrilled to be able to open my doors and share such a jewel and all its beauty with the world.
