I Visited This New Spot For Crepes And More In Pawtuxet Village And Wow

I still miss the original Elephant Room (the zen little cafe that specialized primarily in teas and crepes and later by way of new owners morphed into Schastea) in Pawtuxet Village.

So, when I heard that something new was moving into that space on 2170 Broad Street, I was certainly curious.

Several people, including my great friend Deb who owns Essence Yoga right across the street in “The Village” (as the residents are wont to refer to it), had also recommended Crepe Corner to me recently.

It’s on a lot of people’s minds lately apparently because another one of my brothers (I have 5 in total) suggested checking out their original location over on Westminster in Providence, not far from where we grew up.

The co-owner — the wife of the husband and wife team that owns and runs both eateries — has also fought her way back from life threatening injuries after being hit and dragged by a speeding car one night when she was leaving the restaurant. (She had been doing some prep work for its upcoming opening.)

Oh Crepe!

Well, I stopped by the Broad Street location on Saturday afternoon, immediately following the Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market (every Saturday this summer from 9am to 12noon, in case you are wondering) and really enjoyed the food, the service, and the environment.

As a matter of fact, I could really see myself becoming a regular there starting this summer.

In addition to sweet and savory crepes (I opted for a savory, the “Jessica” without the onions, and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee and both were FANTASTIC), the menu also features smoothies, Belgium waffles, and just about every kind of coffee drink, hot and cold.

Next time I go, definitely ordering one of their waffles!

The staff was conscientious (hey I worked for Nordstrom Providence for over 13 years, so I know a little something about customer service) and they even have paper straws, a nod to eco-consciousness that I tend to appreciate.

In addition, not sure if it was the weather, the food and drink, or a combo of the two, but all the other customers seemed pretty happy and joyous.
