Hot Chocolate Season Is Here So Add These Sweet Spots To Your Weekend Agenda
A few years ago ponchos were all the rage. Last fall and winter chunky pullovers and scarves had their moment in the sartorial spotlight. This go around everyone suddenly seems to be focused on fair isle (sweaters).
No matter what your knit of choice may be (There’s also a push to bring brown lipstick back btw. Remember back in the 90’s when practically everyone in-the-know had a tube of Revlon’s Toast of New York in their makeup bag?) think we can all agree that it’s the perfect time of year to get bundled up and go on a hot chocolate run. With the beginning of hc season upon us then, here are 5 superlative spots for satisfying your cravings for hot drinks and cool fotos.
1️⃣ Sweet Indulgence (Cranston) - The closest thing we have to NYC’s iconic Serendipity 3. The hot chocolate’s not frozen, but it is delish and served in a whimsical, completely pink'ed out setting that screams, “let’s a selfie!” Search SI on IG and you’ll see.
2️⃣ The Shop at Foxpoint (PVD) - IG Superstar Angry Baker was there this year celebrating everything so many of us locals already know to be true, so it’s probably busier than ever, but don’t let that stop you. Also, mark your calendar now for their Cocoa Fest coming up in January and February, during which they feature a different tricked out hc recipe every week. Peanut Butter cup is a fav.
3️⃣ Wildflour Cafe & Bakery (Pawtucket) - Yes, it's vegan, but you won't miss the moo juice. Grab an almond, coconut, hemp or oat milk hot chocolate and a pastry. The new-ish space is bright, cheery, and ideal for that ‘Gram life too.
4️⃣ Pastiche (PVD) - Are you at a cafe or bistro on a side street somewhere in Paris, Prague or Budapest? Or on The Hill? This charming space (Couldn’t you just see a scene from a meet cute romantic comedy circa 1990’s with Meg Ryan being filmed there? Although for the record, when Meg was in town, on tour with now fiance Johnny Mellencamp, they were actually spotted at Kitchen on Carpenter Street having breakfast.) is the OG destination for all things sweet and decadent in the OS, from hot chocolate and fruit tartes to coffee and just about every other cake or pie you can think of. PS - There’s also a cozy fireplace.
5️⃣ Benefit Juice Bar & Cafe (PVD) - An adorably quirky cafe on Benefit that doesn't take itself too seriously. Enjoy music, courtesy of their turntable that’s curiously turned sideways, and one of their signature Chocoholics Hot Chocolates. Insta Story from your table or take some inspo from countless IG bloggers and venture outside in front of one of the many historical houses and facades in the vicinity.
