My Fave Local Village Has Everything You're Looking For In A Fall Daycation

There’s a lot of talk rn about staycations and supporting small businesses around the state.

And for good reason!

Well, I cannot think of a better daycation than spending a few hours in my fave village in the biggest little.

A typical afternoon in Wickford Village for me usually means a nice lunch at Shayna’s on Brown Street. (I can’t get enough of their Peace Train sandwich and a yummy vegetarian sammy I’ve been posting about it for ages.)

For dinner, there’s always Tate’s Italian Kitchen (applause, applause: they have outdoor seating set up now) or the cute patio at Tavern By The Sea.

And no trip to “The Wick” would be complete without a stroll down the sidewalks of Main Street to check out all the colonial era houses and storefronts. (Pssssst, at the end of that road, there’s a secret, hidden-ish beach where we did a socially distanced photoshoot for Gooseneck Vineyards back in July or August.)

So many homes are decorated for the season including of course Fall 2020 and with the right lighting and a few tweaks of the edit options on your smart phone, make for stunning Instagram photos. (One of my most photographed facades is the red brick house in the bottom corner of the collage below.)

If you’re looking for some retail therapy, “The Wick” has plenty of options ready and waiting for you!

Spring Pottery on Brown Street is extra special because all the bowls, dinnerware, and mugs you’ll find in the shop are being created in real time (in the Studio behind the Gallery) by the husband half of the husband-and-wife team who own and run the place.

If you live for delish truffles or you need something new for your kitch or dinner table (lovely plates, pretty cutting boards, and more), you’ll want to swing by The Captain’s Table, a beautifully merchandised oasis for foodies and cooks alike.

In addition, another must stop on your tour of WV is Wickford Antique Estate Liquidators on West Main Street. They seem to always have an eye-catching selection of vintage treasures, including the nose from a 1940’s era airplane, the perfect prop for your next IG photo op.

*There are a lot more marvelous stores and galleries in Wickford! Hope you’ll make time to zip over and explore for yourself.
